Hi guys, welcome back to another Huge Jefferies video! Today, I'll be restoring a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, one of Samsung's most innovative foldable phones. Unfortunately, this innovation also comes with its drawbacks—the folding display has snapped in the centerfold, making the phone unusable. Let's dive into the restoration process and see if we can bring this phone back to life!
The Purchase and Initial Inspection
I bought this Galaxy Z Flip 3 for mac reseller just $230, a whopping $1,370 less than Samsung's current selling price. The seller mentioned that the phone was only six months old when it was dropped, leading to a crack in the display. The dead pixels have slowly expanded, making the phone unusable.
The parcel arrived with the original packaging, housing the damaged phone and some documentation, but no USB-C cable. The phone itself has seen better days. The scrapes on the hinge and the cracked inner glass display indicate that foldables are incredibly fragile. The display appears to be warping in the closed state, suggesting it might have come loose from the frame.
Disassembling the Galaxy Z Flip 3
To begin the restoration, I heated the two back sections on my heat plate for several minutes to soften the adhesive. Using a suction cup and a plastic pick, I carefully removed the glass panels. The adhesive runs around the perimeter of the glass, and there are delicate cables underneath that you must avoid damaging.
Top Section:
In the top section, the outer display flex cable and housing interconnect cables are exposed. Folding the top reveals the display cable, which I disconnected after unlatching its retaining bracket.
Inside the Flip 3:
The internal layout is familiar, with the motherboard up top and a smaller battery below. The main battery and charging equipment are in the lower section. I began by disconnecting both batteries to cut off electricity flow. Then, I removed the motherboard by disconnecting all flex cables and removing retaining screws.
Motherboard and Components:
The motherboard has 256 GB of storage, 8 GB of RAM, and a Snapdragon 8 processor. With the motherboard out, I pried out the first battery using some alcohol and picks. The front camera was glued with silicon-based adhesive, which I cut free without damaging the flex cable.
Lower Section:
In the lower section, I removed the wireless charging coil and began loosening the speaker, revealing the charging port. I removed an interconnect cable and the main OLED flex cable before unfastening the charging port PCB. The vibration motor was the last component to come out, which I pried free with alcohol.
Reassembling with the New Display
With the phone disassembled, it was time to unpack the new display, which cost $351. This brings the total investment to $581. The new assembly came with the flexible display attached to the frame and the earpiece already installed. Everything else needed to be swapped over.
Reattaching Components:
I applied new adhesive to the battery and seated it back into position. The charging port was installed next, attaching its three cables and one Phillips head screw. The speaker, held by five screws (one black-colored long screw), was reinstalled, followed by the wireless charging coil.
Upper Section:
I positioned the front camera and reinstalled the motherboard, connecting all flex cables except the battery. After securing the upper antenna, it was time to test the phone. Reconnecting the battery connections and powering up the device, the new display lit up correctly, and the touchscreen functioned perfectly.
Final Assembly and Testing
With the phone functioning, I reinstalled the last two brackets and prepared the rear panels for reattachment. After cleaning and removing old adhesive, I reattached the outer display's flex cable and retaining clip. Using B7000 liquid adhesive, I applied glue around the perimeter of both sections and held them down with rubber bands until the glue dried overnight.
The next day, I removed the rubber bands and cleaned off any excess glue. After reinstalling the SIM card tray, the restoration was complete.
The Result
The once unusable Galaxy Z Flip 3 was now fully functional. The total cost of the restoration was $581, significantly less than buying a new one or even some of the recently sold eBay listings. This restoration not only saved money but also gave a new life to a damaged device that would otherwise be uneconomical to repair in the future.

In a dimly lit garage, cluttered with wires and gadgets, a tech enthusiast named Mark prepared for his latest experiment. "What is up, guys? TechRax here!" he exclaimed, setting up his camera. He had a vision, a mission to explore the boundaries of charging technology. "Last time we had 10 chargers go inside an iPhone. This time, we're stepping it up a notch to 100."
Mark laid out his tools meticulously. Before him, a hundred charging cubes and cables formed an intricate array, a technological tapestry ready to be woven. The sight was surreal, almost beautiful. "Check this out," he said, panning his camera over the setup. "We have a hundred cubes, a hundred chargers, all lined up here. Really beautiful."
He knew this was no ordinary project. The task was daunting, but his determination was unwavering. Each charger was a piece of a grand puzzle. "We're going to plug it into a single iPhone. This is a massive upgrade right here." He began the painstaking process of soldering the cables together, transforming individual pieces into a singular, monstrous entity. All of it just wrapped around, and we've got the four switches to power all of them on." He looked at his two subjects for the experiment, two iPhone 6s. "I've got two iPhone 6s, and we're going to be testing them."
Mark explained his choice of devices. "Last time I used a newer iPhone XRs. This time we're using two older iPhone 6s to give you guys a little perspective. For battery health, this one has 84%, and I'm going to turn off the optimized battery charging." He turned his attention to the second phone. "This iPhone 6s has a battery health of 85%, so it should have maybe a little bit more of an advantage, but basically identical. Also turning off optimized battery charging."
With both phones prepped, Mark was ready. "Now, guys, we're going to wait until both of these phones drop down to zero and completely die. Once that happens, I'm going to plug 100 chargers into this 6s and then one single brick into this 6s on the right."
The phones died as expected, and the moment of truth arrived. "Both 6s are fully dead, so let's go ahead and begin charging." He flipped the four switches for the 100 chargers. "First thing I'm going to do, guys, is put on all these switches. This is for all the 100 chargers. Four switches are on."
He plugged in the lone charger for the second iPhone. "We got one cube right here. This is gonna go for the iPhone 6s to the right of me. I'm gonna plug this one in." The anticipation was palpable. "And now, right away, I'm going to plug in this bad boy," he said, referring to the mega charger. "Boom, it is in, and we got the Apple logo already."
He placed both phones side by side. "Looks like that one is still charging. No Apple logo. Apple logo on this one." The excitement grew. "This is the moment of truth, guys, so let's go ahead and just see what starts happening here."
The first iPhone with 100 chargers booted up almost instantly. "Phone is on already, three percent. I'm going to go straight into airplane mode, full brightness, leave Bluetooth on. We have five percent." The second iPhone lagged behind. "The second iPhone 6s, okay, there we go. Now we got the apple macbook pro mb134ll/a 15.4-inch laptop logo. Took its sweet time, maybe two minutes."
The race was on. "Let's see what percentage it's going to be showing. Two percent. Seven percent with that one already, two percent here. This one is definitely going a lot slower. We're going to also put this one into airplane mode, full brightness, and the race has officially begun."
Minutes turned into updates. "Update, guys, we got 14% and 7%, so about basically twice as fast at the moment." The mega charger's lead was evident. "Looks like the 100 chargers, guys, wins the 50% mark first with the second iPhone still at 39%."
Despite the monstrous power of 100 chargers, the difference was surprisingly minimal. "As we close down to 100%, you could tell that the difference of this experiment is very, very minimal. We have 97% with 100 chargers, 93% with one charger. Honestly, guys, I did not know what to expect. It maintained a 10% difference most of the time."
The experiment concluded with a lesson learned. "We hit 98% here with 100 chargers. That wraps it up. We're going to go ahead and shut all these off." Mark switched off the power, unplugged the mega charger, and reflected. "Definitely not worth it, guys. Don't go ahead and try making 100 homemade chargers, but I hope you guys enjoyed that video."

In the world of smartphone repairs, it's not often you come across a device as damaged as the iPhone 11 Pro I recently tackled. The phone had sustained a severe impact, shattering the back glass, snapping the frame, and leaving a massive dent that pushed the internal components outward. The screen was ripped off, with only the earpiece flex cable and bezel remaining. This was the condition of the iPhone 11 Pro I won in an eBay auction, macbook prod alongside an iPhone 7 Plus, for 80 Australian dollars, making the cost per device approximately 25 USD.
The phones arrived wrapped in paper towels, but fortunately, they were as described. The iPhone 11 Pro was in dire need of restoration, and I was determined to bring it back to life. Before diving into the repair, I want to give a shoutout to Gadget Kings PRS, a fantastic resource for phone repair tools and parts. Their support has been invaluable throughout this restoration.
I started by removing the two pentalobe screws at the bottom of the device and detaching the remnants of the original display. Using a plastic pick, I separated the display bezel from the frame, which was easier than usual due to the bezel's displacement from the impact. With the bezel out of the way, I removed the two brackets covering the battery connections, disconnected the battery, and removed the bracket covering the display cables. After unplugging the remaining display cables and the earpiece flex cable, the old bezel was finally out.
With a new screen connected, I tested the iPhone 11 Pro to see if it still worked. It powered on and booted up but was locked with a passcode. The eBay listing claimed the iCloud had been turned off, but after inserting a SIM card and connecting to the internet, the phone automatically wiped. After some back-and-forth with the seller, they finally removed the device from their iCloud account.
With the phone unlocked, it was time for the major transformation. I had a new display, adhesive, housing, battery, Wi-Fi antenna, and wireless charging module ready for installation. The first step was to remove the logic board, which required disconnecting several flex cables and removing the SIM card tray. After unfastening the screws holding the rear-facing camera and charging port cable, I could lift out the logic board.
Next, I removed the face ID module, which had taken a beating. The charging port assembly came out after removing multiple screws, and the old battery, which had snapped pull tabs, was pried out with a spudger. With the phone disassembled, it was clear how much damage it had sustained. However, with the new parts ready, it was time to reassemble.
I started by installing the new volume and power buttons, retaining clips, and springs. The intricate setup required patience, but with careful maneuvers, they were securely in place. Next, I installed the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antenna, followed by the power button flex cable, which also housed the rear microphone and LED flash.
The reassembly continued with the installation of the charging port assembly, Taptic engine, and speaker assembly. After transferring a gold contact for the face ID module, I installed the logic board, reconnected all the flex cables, and installed a new camera module. I opted for macbook prod a used Apple camera to ensure the best quality.
With a new battery installed, I secured the final bracket, applied a new water-resistant seal, and connected the new display. After testing the phone to ensure everything worked, I sealed it up and removed the plastic protective film. The transformation was complete.
Despite using genuine Apple parts, the phone displayed battery and display messages indicating the components couldn't be verified as genuine. The True Tone function was disabled, and the battery health status showed it needed servicing. Face ID didn't work due to a cracked dot projector, an issue that couldn't be resolved without Apple's proprietary software.
The total cost for the phone and repairs was around 303 USD, which I consider a great deal given the effort involved. This restoration was a testament to the challenges of repairing modern smartphones and the importance of right-to-repair laws.

Apple has introduced titanium on their latest iPhone 15 Pro Max, a choice that brings both excitement and concerns. Titanium is renowned for its remarkable properties. It's biocompatible, used in medical applications like artificial joints and repairing bones, and it's tough enough for building interstellar spacecraft and robotic explorers. Personally, I have a ring made from titanium reclaimed from a wheelchair, showcasing its versatility. However, Apple's choice of titanium isn't without its quirks, as I discovered.
#### The Marvel of Titanium
Titanium comes in various grades, each with distinct characteristics. Grade 1 titanium is the cheapest and softest, making it easy to machine, which I initially assumed Apple would use for their iPhone. But Apple surprised us with Grade 5 titanium, a much stronger and more expensive variant. For context, a one-inch titanium bar costs around $170, while a similarly sized 6061 aluminum bar, typically used in smartphones, costs just $10. The difference in material cost is stark, highlighting Apple's commitment to premium materials.
#### Unboxing the iPhone 15 Pro Max
Opening the iPhone 15 Pro Max box reveals the sleek new device. The blue titanium finish is similar to the shade I produced, though slightly off. Notably, the box contains a braided USB-C cable instead of the usual lightning cable, signaling a shift in Apple's approach. This move might set a new standard, leading to wider adoption of USB-C ports globally.
The phone itself feels robust, with brushed titanium sides and an etched back glass. Apple's claim of using the strongest glass ever, dubbed "ceramic shield," is put to the test. Typically, plastic screens scratch at a level 2 or 3, glass at 5 or 6, and sapphire at 8 or 9 on the Mohs scale. The ceramic shield scratches at a level 6, with deeper grooves at level 7, but the scratches are less pronounced, indicating a significant improvement.
#### The Titanium Frame and Its Challenges
The titanium sides feature a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating, which adds an ultra-thin protective layer. Despite this, the coating scratches easily, similar to anodized aluminum. Interestingly, the 5G antenna slot is impervious to scratches, hinting at a different, more resilient material. The power button and the new action button are also scratchable, showcasing the limitations of the PVD coating.
Apple spent 14 hours applying this finish, but my jerry-rigged knife removed it in seconds. This disparity underscores the vulnerability of even the most meticulously crafted surfaces. The matte back glass is resilient, resisting scratches, while the smooth Apple logo remains a minor exception.
#### Exploring the Camera and AI Features
The iPhone 15 Pro Max boasts significant camera upgrades. The main camera features a 48-megapixel sensor with a nano-scale coating to reduce glare. The standout is the 12-megapixel 5x tetraprism telephoto lens, which reflects light four times before hitting the sensor, providing enhanced stabilization. The ultra-wide camera, also 12 megapixels, works in tandem with the telephoto lens to generate spatial video, a feature reminiscent of the HTC Evo 3D from 12 years ago.
