Welcome to Gadget Kings! Today, we are disassembling the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE and comparing it to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S23. Step 1: Remove the SIM Tray
To start the disassembly, the SIM tray needs to be removed. This is the first step in accessing the phone's internal components.
Step 2: Heat the Back Plate
Apply heat to the back plate of the phone to loosen the adhesive underneath. This makes it easier to pry off the back plate using a plastic pry tool. Here's a closer look at the glass back plate. The glass camera lens covers can be replaced by applying heat and gently prying them off, so you don't need to take apart the entire phone for this specific repair.
Step 3: Remove Screws
Next, we need to remove 20 Phillips screws. This will give us access to the wireless charging coil and NFC antenna, which are important for the phone's functionality. There's also some graphite film to help with heat transfer.
Step 4: Disconnect the Battery and Cables
At this point, the battery cable can be disconnected, followed by the rest of the cables. Here's a side-by-side comparison between the S23 and the S23 FE. The top earpiece speaker is located behind a plastic cover.

Looking at the main board, we can see a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 50-megapixel primary lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. The main and telephoto cameras are the only ones with optical image stabilization (OIS). There's a secondary microphone on the top corner and the LED flash is located here. The SIM reader is located on the back, as well as a proximity sensor or ambient light sensor. The camera connectors can be disconnected by simply popping them off.

Moving on, the flex cable for the fingerprint reader also needs to be disconnected from the subboard. There are now two Phillips screws holding down the subboard. The primary microphone is located next to the charger port, which has a red rubber gasket.
Step 10: Examine the Battery and Vapor Chamber
Here's a look at the other side. The vibrator or haptic feedback motor is located here, held in place with adhesive, and the same goes for the fingerprint sensor. Moving on to the battery, there's an adhesive pull pouch to help pry it off. Compared to the S23, the pull tab on the pouch is located on the right side versus the left side. This is a 4,500 mAh battery. Now that the battery adhesive pull pouch has been peeled back, we have a look at the decently sized copper vapor chamber, which runs underneath the battery as well as the motherboard.
Step 11: Power Button and Volume Keys
This is the flex cable for the power button and volume keys. If you need to replace those, you'd have to gently lift up and pull out this metal bracket, which is seated inside the frame. There's also a rubber gasket and mesh filter over the speaker opening on the frame, as well as both of the microphone openings. So, on this phone, if you were ever worried about puncturing the microphone or damaging it by inserting your SIM ejector tool in the wrong hole, you won't need to worry, since both the microphones and the filters are seated above the holes and won't get damaged.
Step 12: Repairability Score
One thing I wanted to point out on this frame which stuck out to me is this cutout on the top corner. It looks like there was possibly originally a plan for a front-facing camera located on this side instead of the top center, or maybe two front-facing cameras. I'm really not sure, but from the looks of it, you can tell there was a camera cutout here in the frame that was later abandoned. For the repairability score on this phone, I give it an 8.5 out of 10.
Step 13: Reassembly
Now it's time to put the phone back together. Once everything's back in place, apply new adhesive and reapply the back plate. Flip over the phone, power it on, and you're done.

Welcome back to another Gadget Kings video! In this video, we'll provide step-by-step instructions on how to replace the screen on a Samsung S20 Plus 5G. If you're planning to undertake this job yourself, we recommend watching the video in full before trying it out. Preparing the Phone
To start off, we need to remove the glass back cover from the back of the phone. We'll be using a heat mat for this, but you can also use a hair dryer or a heat gun. However, the heat mat is recommended. Set the heat mat at 70 degrees Celsius and place the phone on it for about five minutes. Once the phone is warm to the touch, we'll use a razor blade to create a very small gap between the back cover and the midframe chassis. Add a couple of drops of isopropyl alcohol into the gap to help loosen the adhesive.
Next, we'll take an iFixit guitar pick and begin creating a larger gap in the back cover. If you meet any resistance while trying to remove the back cover, add another couple of drops of isopropyl alcohol. Work your way around the edges of the phone, carefully cutting away the adhesive. Once you've cut away three edges, you should be able to open the device like a book. Set the back cover aside and remove the phone from the heat mat.
Removing Internal Components
Now that we're inside the device, we need to remove all the cross-head screws securing the plastic shields, cameras, and other hardware. All the screws on the back cover are the same size, so don't worry if you mix them up a little bit. Start by removing the 10 screws holding down the top shield area, then move down to the bottom of the phone and remove the five screws holding down the loudspeaker and charge port.
With all the screws removed, we'll go back to the top of the device and begin lifting the metal shield as well as the plastic shield. There is a flex cable attached to the logic board for the wireless charging coil. Before disconnecting this, macbook pro 15 codes use a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery first to isolate power from the device. Then, disconnect the flex cable for the wireless charging coil and lift it out. Leave the sticker attached to the bottom shield and use tweezers to carefully pry the loudspeaker and plastic shield away from the phone.

Next, we need to remove the logic board from the chassis of the device. It's held down by one screw in the bottom left area of the board. Moving down to the bottom of the phone, there are two cross-head screws on either side of the USB-C port and one more just to the right. Remove these screws to release the sub-board.
Back up at the top of the phone, remove the SIM tray before lifting out the main board. Use a prying tool below the cameras to lift the board away from the chassis. Keep all components connected to facilitate the reinstallation process.
Removing and Replacing the Screen
Apply isopropyl alcohol around the battery to help soften the adhesive holding it down. Set this aside for a minute. We now have our new screen and chassis, which comes with the front camera attached as well as the ear speaker, but no vibration motor. We'll need to transfer the vibration motor from the old screen. Add a drop of isopropyl alcohol under the adhesive of the vibration motor and use tweezers to carefully pry it out.
Install the vibration motor into the new screen and chassis. While waiting for the adhesive on the battery to soften, remove all the plastic films from the back of the new display. The easiest way to remove the battery from the old phone is with a suction cup. Once the isopropyl alcohol has soaked in, use the suction cup to lift the battery out of the chassis. This method reduces the risk of damage compared to using a plastic or metal tool.
Reassembling the Phone
Start reassembling the phone by placing the original battery into the new chassis, followed by the main board. It's easiest to get this in if you fold back the front camera cable and the volume button cable a little bit. Install the top of the logic board first, then apply pressure to the bottom. Re-secure the single cross-head screw in the bottom left of the board, followed by connecting the display connector to its right FPC and the front camera connector. Re-secure the volume and power button flex cable.
Move back down to the bottom of the phone and re-secure the sub-board into place, followed by the three cross-head screws. Next, reattach the plastic shields and the wireless charging coil. Fold over the metal and plastic shield and re-secure the 10 screws back into place. Re-secure the loudspeaker and support plastic shield by applying pressure to the edges and clipping it back into place, macbook pro 15 codes then secure the five screws that hold it in place.
Final Steps
Finally, reattach the glass back cover by aligning it on one edge first for proper alignment, then apply pressure to all four edges. Turn the phone on and test functionality before returning it to the customer. There may be a plastic film that looks a bit bubbly and dirty, but underneath, the phone is spotless and looking fresh.

Balancing performance and budget was crucial, especially when considering the motherboard. Instead of splurging on a high-end Maximus board, we opted for the STX B650 EF Gaming. This choice allowed us to allocate more funds towards a higher-end graphics card like the 4090. Despite being a more affordable option, the motherboard offered ample connectivity, including Wi-Fi 6E and multiple M.2 SSD slots, meeting all of Javan's needs for 13in retina a high-end gaming and streaming setup.
Memory was another critical component, and Javan had a specific preference: the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGBs. We selected a 32 GB kit running at 6,000 MHz, ensuring plenty of speed and capacity for all his gaming and editing needs. The black version of these sticks added a sleek touch, perfectly aligning with the overall aesthetic of the build.
Cooling and Aesthetics
Before diving into the assembly, the cooler needed preparation. The Hydros Shift LCD 360 TL from Lian Li was a standout choice, offering a unique combination of performance and aesthetics. You’ll now need to disconnect the battery cable, followed by the other cables connected to the main board. There are three wire cables (red, white, and blue) that need to be disconnected. Also, disconnect the front-facing camera by popping off its connector. Remove the single Phillips screw holding the main board in place, then lift and remove the main board.
Step 5: Inspecting the Main Board
The main board features several components, including a secondary mic, flash, sensors, and camera connectors. On the backside, you’ll find the SIM card and memory card reader, along with more camera connectors and a thick layer of graphite film with thermal paste for heat management.
Step 6: Removing the Speaker Assembly and Other Components
Next, remove the speaker assembly, which has antenna lines running through it. Disconnect the flex cable connecting the main board to the sub-board, as well as the fingerprint reader cable and screen flex cable. There are two more wire cables (white and red) to disconnect. Remove the remaining Phillips screw and gently pry off the fingerprint reader.
Step 7: Removing the Charger Port Board
Lift and remove the charger port board, which houses the primary microphone and charger port. Unfortunately, there are no easy pull tabs to remove the battery, so you’ll need to heat the front of the phone to loosen the adhesive under the battery. Use a plastic pry tool to gently pry the battery off.
Step 8: Final Components and Reassembly
With the battery removed, you’re left with the mid-frame, vibrator motor, screen flex cable, and placeholders for millimeter wave antennas (used by certain US carriers like Verizon). There’s also a flex cable for the buttons, secured with a metal bracket.
To replace the screen, remove the back plate, screws, and speaker assembly to access the screen cable. Heat the front to loosen the adhesive, pry off the screen, apply a new screen, product info source reconnect the cable, and reassemble the phone.
Once reassembled, apply new adhesive if necessary, reattach the back plate, power on the phone, and you’re done!

If you've been eagerly waiting to get your hands on the latest iOS features, your moment has arrived. In this video, I'll guide you through the installation process and share some essential tips and tricks to prepare your device before updating.
Firstly, let’s talk about device compatibility. The good news is iOS 18 supports all the devices that iOS 17 supported. This means if you have an iPhone XS, XS Max, or anything newer up to the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, you're all set. Additionally, the upcoming iPhone 16 series will also be supported later this year.
Step-by-Step Guide to Install iOS 18 Public Beta:

Imagine a machine that can erase scratches from your iPhone screen. Recently, I got my hands on such a device, developed by the same company that created the laser machine for removing shattered glass from iPhones. Curious to see if it works, I decided to test it out.
The machine is quite large and not something you'd typically buy for home use. Inside, it features a polishing pad and a coolant hose pump, akin to what you'd find in a CNC machine or metal band saw. The goal is to remove a microscopic layer of glass from the phone's screen using cerium oxide, a super fine powder harder than level 6 on Mohs scale of hardness. Mixed with distilled water, this abrasive liquid becomes our magic sauce for scratch removal.
For the experiment, I used a phone from my durability tests, already sporting scratches from level 6 and deeper grooves at level 7. The first step was to secure the phone in a plastic mold with waterproof sealant, ensuring the abrasive liquid wouldn't seep into the phone's interior. After curing the adhesive with a UV light, the phone was ready for polishing.
The phone, held securely in place by the machine's puck, was positioned on the polishing pad. As the abrasive liquid sprayed onto the surface, the pad spun, ensuring uniform scratch removal. After just five minutes, I paused to check the results. The level 6 and 7 scratches were completely gone, leaving the screen looking significantly better. However, the process also removed the oleophobic coating, which prevents fingerprints.
To restore the oleophobic coating, I cleaned the screen thoroughly and applied a new coating, curing it under UV light for another 30 seconds. The result was a screen that repelled fingerprints just like a new one. Encouraged by this success, I decided to test the machine further.
This time, I scratched another phone with a level 8 and even a level 9 pick, which created gouges and a deep score across the glass. After five minutes in the machine, the level 6 and 7 scratches were gone, but the level 8 and 9 marks remained. Extending the polishing time to 25 minutes didn't completely remove the level 8 gouges or the level 9 score, but it did make a noticeable improvement.
The machine proved effective for everyday scratches from keys or coins, typically around level 6 or 7. However, it struggled with more severe damage like level 8 and 9 scratches, apple macbook pro mc374ll which often accompany cracked screens. This outcome suggests that for minor wear and tear, the machine is a viable solution, but for major damage, screen replacement might be necessary.
Using this machine involves risks, as it immerses the phone in an abrasive liquid. Proper precautions, like waterproof sealant, are crucial to prevent damage. Despite these challenges, the experiment showed promising results for restoring older phones to a near-new appearance.
